A Snapshot of Motherhood

This morning as I drove Corry to school he munched on his toasted bagel as he put on his shoes. He got to the last edge of the bagel and as usual he handed it to me.
This is not uncommon. I don't know why he won't eat the whole thing. Okay, so sometimes I burn one edge and he hands that over, but today it was a perfectly toasted bagel.
I always eat the crust. I don't know why, but I always eat it.
This morning as he handed the crust to me I just stared at it.
'Really. Am I really going to eat that?' I thought
After a breif second I took the toast... and ate it.
I hadn't had breakfast yet and it did look pretty yummy.
That is what I have been reduced to.

Games

Today was our first day with our new theme.
Bryce came home from school talking about resolutions and they were good ones. He wants to do better at math, watch less tv, exercise more, and practice his skateboard. I told him I would help him. His determination had waned by the time dinner came. The tv is such an enticing time waster. To all of our credits we played a game of phase 10 after dinner. It wasn't entirely fun as it was peppered with some poor sportsmanship, but it is a start, and a very good one at that!
Great day! Hope tomorrow is as good!

Family Theme: MAKE MEMORIES! 2010

At FHE tonight we decided on a family theme or motto for the year! We decided on 'Make Memories'
To us this means that we want to spend time as a family doing things that will make memories. We want to take advantage of the time we have been given to do things! We want memories! We want to be together and be a team! We want to smile and laugh together! We want to experience life and see what is out there so that we don't miss anything! We want to make memories!
We are really excited for our theme. We are making lists of things we want to do together. Some of the things are really simple like take more walks and bike rides. Others are more involved like going on trips to see Matt, Mia and visit the Grand Canyon and other national parks. Our goal is to go and do and make memories with our family who we love!
Awesome! I am so excited!
Stephanie is going to make us a plaque that we can put up to remind us! Corry suggested that we put it up over the TV to remind us to make memories instead of lose our time in front of the TV. Great idea Corry!

Chelsea turns 1!

We can hardly believe that our Chelsea Rose is 1 year old today. She has been such a sweet little girl and a bright spark in our lives this year. She loves to climb and can generally be found on top of a table or chair or standing on the lid to the dishwasher. She loves to be in the fridge but is not generally a great eater. She enjoys a good bottle and apples and pasta. Her favorite food is spaghetti and anything sweet.
She got a ride on pony, a baby, a blanket and lots of cute clothes for her birthday. She had yummy cake balls for her birthday party and her brothers and sister all helped her blow out the candle!
We sure love this sweet little munchkin and love to see all the new mischief she gets into, but at the same time wish she would stop growing so fast!

Lions!

Bryce had an animal project to complete for his off track homework. He chose to do a report on Lions! He made a board game, a poster, wrote a book and a poem on Lions. He worked hard, stayed focused and was really proud of his work. We played his board game and had a lot of fun!

New Years Eve Bash!

Corry had a new years eve party this year. He invited a bunch of friends and they ate, played videogames, smashed a pinata and celebrated the new year with poppers and streamers!
It was a lot of fun!
Morgan and Caleb had their own pre-party pinata which was a very smart move.
Caleb fell asleep soon after the party started with his face in a pile of BBQ potato chips. Too funny!
Dave and I had our own pre-party celebration. We went on a Gondola ride through the naples canal with friends from church. We celebrated with Kari Angulo and Rob Wiser, Kadee Morisson and hubby, Don and Cindi Rogan, Melissa and Tony Johnson, Tina and Mike Morisson and Tiffany and Damon Brodowski. It was fun. We kissed under all the bridges and got serenaded to by the gondola drivers under a bridge (in italian with so-so singing).
Welcome 2010!

A family theme for the year!

Today we decided that our family needed a motto for the new year. During a special session of FHE we came up with ideas about teamwork, persistance, love and activities. We are going to think about our ideas and vote and finalize them during family home evening on Sunday.
